| Description | Variants should use the canonical URL for the father-article. Otherwise google could think it is duplicat content. Since Version 4.4.8 there seems to be a bug. For example the correct canonical-URL for this article is: <link rel="canonical" href="http://demoshop.oxid-esales.com/community-edition/Bekleidung/Fashion/Fuer-Sie/Jeans/Kuyichi-Jeans-ANNA.html"> but the variant in size 34/34 and colour blus is using this url: <link rel="canonical" href="http://demoshop.oxid-esales.com/community-edition/Bekleidung/Fashion/Fuer-Sie/Jeans/Kuyichi-Jeans-ANNA-W-34-L-34-Super-Blue.html"> (Google is indexing this variant-pages too. I dont know how but the googlebot ist able to find this pages.) | ||||

It works like requested in Azure theme - variant-products has canonical tags to Parent product. Also in Azure theme you cannot get the link directly to the Variant product anywhere, except the Basket. But in the basket this link is marked as "nofollow", so it will not be indexed by Search Engines. In Basic theme you can get the link to Variant products right in the Product details page (variants are listed at the bottom of the page). So fix is needed in Basic theme only - canonital tags for Variant-products should contain the link to Parent product. |
