Summary | 0002757: meaning of "delivery time" unclear
Description | the orange t-shirt TIGER in demo-data has a delivery time of 3-5 weeks. This delivery time is shown wether the t-shirt is on stock or not. So if not on stock the text says: (red) This item is not in stock and must be reordered. Delivery time: 3 - 5 weeks --> customer: "okay, they have to reorder it, but in 3-5 weeks i'll have it." If it is on stock, it says: (green) Ready for shipping Delivery time: 3 - 5 weeks --> customer: Its on stock, good. But they cant really need 3-5 weeks for the shipping, this must be an error. Or perhaps, this is the time they need, if i order more items then there are on stock? So now - what is it meant to be? I dont know it myself. Since the select-box in the admin has the options days/weeks/months, I dont think it meant to be be the time the shipment will be on its way (which is about 3-5 days from germany to china). So, if it is ment to be the time needed to get out-of-stock items, its dangerous to display it when a product is on stock. In the above example its obvious: knowone would believe the 5 weeks. But if the time is 8-10 days, a customer could think the shop has a really lame logistic and does not order, because he needs the item three days later. To be absolutly sure, that the customer always gets the correct information, there should be two time-spans: - delivery time when on stock (shop -> customer) - delivery- time when out of stock (vendor -> shop, shop -> customer)
