It's not a bug.
If parent article is not buyable and you add it to noticelist, the dropdown for variants is shown, because no concrete article was added. If variant was added (concrete article was selected), dropdown menu will not be displayed.
If parent article is buyable and is added to noticelist, dropdownlist will not be displayed, because you already selected concrete article.

Why should it not be possible to change from a buyable parent to one of it's variants? On detail pages and lists you offer exactly this behaviour where a buyable parent is always shown additional to it's variants. This is an usability issue, that's why i added it to GUI category.

Hi,

When Parent is buyable - then it works like one of the variants. In such places as Gift Registry and Wishlist - the particular variants should be stored, to avoid missunderstandings. So such feature to have possibility to change variants in these list is more like a feature request.
We will include this request into customers whishlist for further consideration. Here the entry is closed.
