Summary | 0002227: Doublebyte Characters do not display in all fields (for both Shoppers and Admin)
Description | The issue involves all fields for both Users and Admin, including Admin's creation of New Products and New Users. I stopped testing the other areas because the problem seems systemic. Entering doublebyte characters into all fields, as a normal shopper or Admin would do is fine. However upon browser fresh or 'SAVE', or proceeding to the next step the characters revert to their #&12452 #&12505 #&1251&# format. Interestingly, by going 'BACK' one screen in the browser the characters display properly. When Shopper forms are submitted such as new accounts, purchases, newsletter registration, etc...in Admin->Users/Products, etc...the characters display as #&12452 #&12505 #&1251&#.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Enter some Japanese or whatever doublebyte text (copy/paste text from some site). Even if you can't read the language you'll know this #&12452 #&12505 #&1251&# is not a sentence.
Additional Information | Checked Systems Health: all fine I run an English OS and have 15+ yrs experience using doublebyte characters on my PC. It's not a local issue. Please NOTE, this is the only issue preventing the launching of my site which is set to go live Jan. 1st.

Reminder sent to: Tokyoj Hi, I think the issue occurs because you have installed OXID eShop not as UTF8. During installation there is a special option in the 4th setup step "Use UTF-8 character encoding". Please choose this one during setup and the doublebyt characters will be displayed correctly in the eShop. Please see attached screenshots with some copy-paste Japanese text in the Product name and First Name of user - these are displayed correctly. So the entry is closed. If you still experience some problems because that issue in UTF8 shop - please Reopen this entry with the details. Thank you. |
